In this segment, students will deepen their understanding of design elements and principles with a special focus on the creative process. They will develop and hone basic drawing skills through the study of simple still life compositions.
Moreover, students will participate in discussions about how different colors can express various emotions and themes in art. The unit will also explore the differences in one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective techniques in drawing.
To further enhance their abilities, students will use an online drawing application for creating digital artwork. They will also investigate the works of modern artists who specialize in drawing, thereby expanding their appreciation and knowledge of artistic styles and expressions.
In this unit, students will practice creating images through capturing light or other electromagnetic radiation, using either electronic methods with image sensors or chemical processes with photographic film. They will also become skilled in standard photo editing techniques.
The unit encourages students to reflect on the various interpretations and messages communicated through photographs. They will explore career paths involving photography and study artists who use photography as their primary medium. This holistic approach is designed to give students a thorough understanding of photography, both as a technical craft and a potent form of artistic expression.
This unit immerses students in the widespread influence of digital media in everyday life. They will actively use platforms like Tinkercad, Animaker, and SculptGL, applying these tools to produce various forms of digital artwork.
This unit takes students on a journey through different art forms from various epochs and regions, such as prehistoric, Egyptian, Greek and Roman art, along with works by Canadian artists. The goal is to cultivate an appreciation for the societal influences of art and the reasons behind its creation.
Students will complete a detailed summative assessment that thoroughly encompasses all the course objectives and expectations.
The RST contributes to 20% of the total grade.
